Valletta Fanfares
Last night I headed down to the Plough Inn again at Southbank. This time it wasn't to attend a work mate's 40th, but to watch the rugby. When I was there on Saturday I didn't realise that they've done a whole heap of work on the beer garden, because I was shocked when I went out there last night. It's all new. And modern. I don't know if I like it. It used to be a proper beer garden, but it's sort of lost that. That's progress.
After drinking too many drinks with Nick and Tom I headed over to the Lychee Lounge where Stuart was. I only had one drink, a Tequila Mockingbird, and then I decided that I had to go. I ordered a pizza from next door, waited for it to cook, then hopped in a cab and came home. If I'd held on for an extra 15 minutes I could have got a ride with my brother, but sometimes when you've got to go, you've got to go. I'm putting my urgent need for sleep down to waking up at 5. I managed to get undressed before I went to bed, which is always nice.
This morning I woke up feeling a little bit worse for wear. I really shouldn't be smoking, but it's the weather. Smoking in the cooler months is infinately more enjoyable.
I went out for breakfast this morning with Mel Hailley. It's always good to see Mel and find out what she's been up to. Her sister was going to be an air hostess for Arab Emirates, but apparently she hated living in Dubai, so she quit and came home. For breakfast I had a vegetarian frittata which was delicious.
After I dropped Mel home, I decided that I'd go to the beach. Stuart wanted to come down too, so off we went. We made pretty good time, but finding a park was hard. There was alot of people at the beach, having picnics and things. The surf was pretty good and there were quite a few people in the water with their boards. Stu went for a surf and I had a swim. We were probably in the water for about an hour. It was fantastic, the only downer was a huge sweep. I kept having to get out so I could back up on the sand.
Unfortunately, because it is winter, the local council down there turns off the showers at the beach, so we were unable to get the salt and sand off our bodies. It's not a big deal though. We grabbed a couple of burgers from Big Chief and then looked at some sunglasses. We also looked at the breasts of the girl in the sunglass shop. Stuart ended up buying a pair of sunglasses. They are totally ace, and I'm kind of jealous. They're Lisa Ho ones though, so they're meant for girls, but who cares? Once we had left the shop Stuart and I discussed whether her breasts were real or not. In the end I think that we agreed that we thought they were.
This has pretty much been my Queen's Birthday holiday. It's been pretty good. I had a Hello Kitty lolly before from Ed Coghlin's girlfriend, Suzie. It was tasty.
