Overdrive

You know what? I think that this has been one of the best Easter's ever. I've had a really fucking good time all weekend. Sure, I drove about 800 kilometres which was a tad tedious, but everything else has been totally cool.

I think that perhaps the weather had something to do with it. I seem to recall that it's been raining the past few years, I remember it was always raining whenever I went up to Noosa with Brooke. This weekend has been fantastic though. Warm days, cooler nights. It's really been tops.

Yesterday was the great day that I hoped it would be. I had an excellent night's sleep at Josh's place and in the morning I read for a couple of hours. The book is Jarhead and it is proving to be an enjoyable read. After that I headed upstairs and spoke to Dave and his parents for a little while, I watched Dave cook up his breakfast of Spam and Eggs. Dave's dad had brought the Spam up for him, apparently Dave likes the stuff but feels a sense of shame when he buys it down at the grocery store.

After that I headed up to the markets that were happening in Caloundra. There was a stack of people up there, but I managed to find a cafe where I could have some breakfast and watch the passing parade of people. The breakfast wasn't too bad either.

After this I browsed the stalls for an hour or so, and there was the usual collection of crap that looks kind of cool but isn't really worth having. One thing was a big wooden mallet with Mood Adjuster written on it. I heard 3 people comment on it, saying things like, "I could have used that yesterday," or, "That's what Darren needs." None of them bought one though.

I did pick up some items from the markets. I bought a bag of avocados from some hippy lady. I also bought some olives from another dude. And finally I bought a ring type thing for me to stick through my chest. It's a pretty evil looking thing, it's black and shaped like a horseshoe with two big spikes on the end of it. It hurt like a bitch to put in, it even bled a little.

After that I drove around for a while trying to find Tim's place. I eventually got there, but Tim wasn't there yet. Dan Horn was though so we passed the time together. Tim got there after a little while with Dave Hoare, Jimmy Wilson and Michael Davis in the car with him. I'm pretty sure that they would have scared a few people on the highway. Once Tim arrived preparations were made for the barbecue and for the afternoon of drinking. And then we got into it.

The barbecue was great. The beer was cold. The sun was bright. The breeeze was cool. The afternoon passed quickly.

And then it was night time. And things were kicked up a gear. Josh arrived and we drank more and more booze. A bit of shit was spoken and some cards were played. Sandy dropped by for a little while. People started to turn in for the night. The last two up were Josh and Tim, this could be because they both spewed. They also did something unmentionable with a vodka bottle apparently.

I woke this morning feeling fresh. A little too fresh actually. I decided to strike while the iron is hot and make my move. I said my goodbyes and jumped into the car and came home. The drive wasn't too bad, although I did start to feel seedy pretty much straight away. I made a pitstop for some breakfast and then completed my journey.

It's been a great few days, a nice break. I've still got the whole day ahead of me today so I'll try and do something worthwhile.
