I Can Do Much Better
So I'm housesitting at the moment and it is cold. Freaking cold. The house is an old Queenslander type and the cold doesn't just creep up through the floorboards, it is a permanent guest here. I will prevail though.
Over the weekend I did some good things. I cleared a couple of stages on Guitar Hero 2 on expert setting, including Sweet Child Of Mine. I had a lovely meal at Mecca Bah with Ria. I was able to witness a posse of drunk girls in full flight. I went for a brief swim in a cold pool. I visited the crematorium for my Mum's birthday. I had a horrible lunch that was totally overpriced and completely underdone at the Lava Bar. I watched The Departed.
So it was pretty busy. Not too outrageous, no crazy drinking, I was very well behaved, especially considering it was my birthday weekend. I also helped clean up the house for the impending return of my Father, who has been slaying dragons in far off nations.
Or not quite slaying dragons. More like attending conferences and getting frustrated with Japanese people who only speak Japanese.
Monday was work.
Monday night was taking Heidi, Tim, Kai and Luca to the airport so that they could fly to the UK, then spending my first night in their house. And not eating any dinner except for a handful of snakes.
I think that the not eating a proper dinner on the Monday night really stuffed me up for Tuesday, because I felt like I was behind the 8-ball all day. I got to work late. I had 2 breakfasts. I was disorganised all day. I did manage to accomplish some things, but I didn't do so well at others.
Last night I showed a guy through the child care centre. Lincoln Bridge was there, and he's more than just a pretty face. Apparently he owned a nightclub down in Melbourne for a number of years. And his mother is the president of Child Care Queensland. So there you go.
I wasn't too nervous last night when showing the guy around the centre. I still feel bad about the sale of the centre, but I've accepted that it's going to happen, and I want to make sure we get the best price possible for it. I just need to look at this as an opportunity for me to try something different. Something where there will be an opportunity for me to have a bigger income than my paltry current sum.
After the walk through I headed home for a barbecue. Dad had arrived back and it was great to see him again. He looked well and had some good stories to tell. I saw some interesting photos, but I think that I only saw about half of them.
We had an extra guest at dinner last night as well. Joshua is in town and he came over after having a long lunch with Richard. Joshua is in Brisbane for an interview with the Department of Agriculture. He believes that he smashed the interview, and that if he doesn't get one of the graduate positions, then he doesn't know what they're looking for. So good luck Josh!
Josh stayed the night here, and I hope that he didn't freeze. He was sleeping in Luca's bed.
I took Ria to work and am now updating my blog. Outside the wind is fierce and cold. Blowing straight in from the west. I'm going to wear long pants to work today. It'll be the first time in about 9 months. Certainly this year.
