You Deserve It!

First day back at school today for all the kids, meaning that they were a curious combination of pumped excitement and also tired out after a long day in class. Made this afternoon feel really long, especially as Kapila (the lady I normally do after school care with) is over in New York trying to save the world. Only two more days to go without her though, so that's pretty neat.

Today was pretty interesting really. Quite a bit happened, but I can't recall all of it. It started off really well. Actually that might have been more last night, but still it carried over to this morning. I was definately in a good mood, so I was more than happy to talk to the people that wanted to talk to me. I was also happy to find that zucchini is spelt with an h. Someone tried to tell me the other day that it doesn't have an h, but I knew that was wrong.

One of the other things that happened today was a mother of one of the children came in to do some baking. She made cup cakes, and mine had blue icing. It was delicious. Light, fluffy and still hot out of the oven. The amount of cake I eat at work probably isn't healthy, but it sure is good.

Another great thing that happened at work is that the girl who I covered for on Friday brought me in a beer and a chocolate bar. The beer is one that I haven't heard of before and definately one that I haven't seen before because it has a most distinctive bottle. It's pretty nifty, but the best thing is that the beer inside tastes good too.

I spoke to the father of the little girl who has leukemia this afternoon. He told me a little bit about what's going on and it was good to talk to him. It can be startling how quickly your life can change. He was saying how 6 weeks ago he had absolutely no idea about white blood cell counts and all those other fucking statistics that come with cancer. Now, unfortunately, he knows all about them. Still, apparently the treatment is working, although it's still early days yet.

In the Yellow Room we've got a new little girl whose father is away at the moment. He's a band manager, and is touring the States at the moment with his band. Apparently he's going to be there for the next couple of months. The band? Wolfmother. I thought that that was pretty exciting, although I don't really know why. It's not a serious claim to fame, having the daughter of the manager of a rock band at your centre, but I thought it was cool. I think that that might be too tenuous a relationship to hit him up for free tickets though.

In less cool news, my mum is in hospital at the moment. She should be out for the weekend, which is lucky cause I've got a heap of cleaning for her to do.

In slightly more cool news I think that I'm going to an all you can eat buffet after visiting the hospital. To reword Peaches: I'm going to eat the pain away. Not really, although I am a little worried about my waistline now that swimming has stopped.

Sounds like you had a good Easter. I got a haircut and had picnic, it was pretty fly. I also just got some pretty cool spam which you can read about on my inadequately updated LJ. Peace
